AGAIN

“Burbank, we received another case right after you left to go home, so I started working on it right away,” Joe said.

“It’s really ugly this time and so strange because two people were found in a large container filled with a foul-smelling liquid.”

“Let me take a look,” Burbank said.

“Oh no, not again!”

“What do you mean again?”  Joe asked.

“I think the Pickle man is active again because he always drowns his victims in pickle juice!”

Car Crash

“Dad! We are going to crash into the side of the bridge and go into the river!” Austin screamed.

“Hang on tight, I’m trying to get the brakes to work,” Jordan said.

“We have stopped now, but our car is hanging over the side rail and we need to get out quickly!”

“I can’t get my seatbelt loose, Dad!”

“Let me do it.”

“Dad! Our car is rocking and we are going to fall into the lake!”

“Austin, I have to use my pocket knife to cut the strap.”

“Hurry, Dad!”

“Try to calm down and sit very still, so I can get this strap cut. ”

“Alright, I want you to carefully open the car door and jump out.”

“What about you dad? You have to get out too!”

“Don’t worry, when you are out, I will get out too.”

” Get out dad, get out!”

Jordan  jumped out just before the car went over the side of the bridge.”

“Marie, why do you come here day after day?  She’s gone, and you know she isn’t here waiting for you!”  Melissa said.

“I don’t know!  I just need to come !”

“Alright, but let’s at least eat outside this time.”

“No!  I need to sit inside.”

“Who is that woman over there?  I always see her here, ” Maria asked.

“I have no idea, but why do you think it’s important?”

“Because I saw her here the day Emily disappeared.”

“So, that’s not unusual.  She probably eats here on a regular basis because she likes the food.”

“Oh no!  I just saw that woman take that little boy outside and he doesn’t belong to her,” Maria said.

“How do you know?”

“Because when we came in he was sitting with a man and she was sitting on the other side of the room. The man just went toward the restroom.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yes!  We have to call the police!

“Thankfully you were so alert, Maria.  The police stopped another kidnapping and you have your daughter back home with you!  The police said they found four of the missing children, and all were alive,”  Melissa said.

THE JUMP

SIX SENTENCE STORIES       clue…slip

The Jump

“I have my parachute on and will follow you down uncle Joe,” Alex said jokingly.

“You stand back and Emily will record my jump,”  Joe said.

The door opened, Alex moved a little closer, knocked against the tripod which caused him to slip and fall forward.

He fell against Alex, then fell out of the plane.

His first reaction was panic, but he remembered to pull the cord and his parachute opened.

He realized, with satisfaction, he was jumping for the first time and was hoping Emily was recording it!

CONTRIBUTION

Flash Fiction for Aspiring Writers

Week of 07-11 through 07-17-2017

This week’s photo prompt is provided by Grant-Sud. Thank you Grand-Sud for our photo prompt!

CONTRIBUTION

Sometimes I need to come up here and just look around.

The world is a mixture of good and bad.  I am just a small part of it but I can give to society in a good way.  I can not solve all the problems, take care of all the needs, but just my contribution to society can go a long way.

I see John, walking to school with the other children and that is something that has changed.  He was a loner and would have nothing to do with anyone.

I remember talking to him one day and I found out he could not read or write, even though he was ten years old.

We became friends and I would help him with his school work and include him in the outdoor activities with the other children.

He became part of us, and he told me one day that just the simple act of reaching out to him as a friend had  a profound impact on his life.

CRISIS

Now, I am in the biggest crisis of my life!

I never wanted to take this jaunt in the jungle, but knew it would please my father.

The guide, my father’s best friend, agreed to take me along as a favor to him.

My experience in this type of outing has been zero, thus a contributing factor to my dilemma.

The snake and I continued to stare at each other as beads of sweat trickled down my face, with my feet feeling glued to the ground, and my heart getting ready to burst out of my body!

I could not move, I could not yell, but my mind being very active filled me with absolute terror!

Then, it happened. The snake moved toward me and my eardrums blasted with the awful sound of the gun being fired.

Thankfully, my guide shot the snake just as it was trying to strike me.

This week’s photo prompt is provided by Mark with @any1mark66. Thank you Mark!

The Eyes Have The Answer

“This is an unusual place,” Garth said.

Emily smiled and nodded her head, but did not speak.  She rarely talked since her accident.  The difficulty of pronouncing words clearly made her self-conscious.

“Look at the green character, Emily.  His eyes are so big and dark.  He looks strange. ”

” I’ll go buy us a drink and you can rest on that bench over there while I’m gone,”  Garth said.

“Emily, where are you?” Garth questioned as he looked around for her.

She stood in front of the  green character, while shifting from one foot to the other, smiling and nodding  her head as she stared into its large black eyes.

Garth handed her the drink and gave her a puzzled look.

She smiled and as they walked away she turned around and waved at the strange green character and began to speak fluently.

“What just happened?”  Garth asked.

“A miracle,” she answered.

Martha squinted her eyes and took in a deep breath as she stared at the building in awe.

Memories flowed through her mind and put her back in time with life mixed with love and tragedy.

After being injured in the war, her husband Paul, came home.  She spent months watching him slowly recover and they tried to put their once happy life back together again.

The make-shift hospital became their home, away from home.  Friends came by to visit, holidays were a mixture of sadness and joy, and the greatest day was when Paul walked out of the building he had called home for two years!

The following forty-five years consisted of raising their children and all the trials and happy times that go with it.

Now Paul has passed, but she still has her memories to hold on to, and their children and grandchildren to love and share her life with.
