The Plan

“Allison, I can’t believe the judge actually granted the house to Asher and you didn’t even receive half of the value!”  Nora pointed out.

“Well, that’s what happens when he has the money to spend on the best attorney in town,” Allison said with a brittle voice.

“What are you going to do now?”

“I’m going to clean the house for him since he is putting it up for sale, now that I have received a scant amount for my share.”

“What?  Why would you do that?”

“I have a plan,” Allison said quietly.

“Allison! You’re not thinking of destroying the inside of the house are you?”

“Of course not.  He doesn’t live in it anymore, he’s just selling it.”

“But, you are not getting any more money from him.”

“No, but time is on my side now, and I intend to use it to my advantage.  I’m a patient person.”

Allison cleaned Asher’s house and he paid her a very small amount  for all of her hard work, and put the house up for sale, then left town on an extended vacation.

The house was in perfect condition, but people found it to have an unusual odor and they would not consider buying it.

So, Asher lowered the price to a ridiculous amount just to get rid of it. He was too busy having fun in France with his new girlfriend.

Allison bought the house anonymously and moved in right away. She promptly removed the foul-smelling chemicals from the air condition vents and from under the stairs!

FLASH FICTION FOR THE PURPOSEFUL PRACTITIONER

https://rogershipp.wordpress.com/2016/06/23/flash-fiction-for-the-purposeful-practitioner-week-26-2016/

Week #26,   2016

The opening sentence for the June 23rd Flash Fiction for the Purposeful Practitioner: It was really dark last night, but I’m pretty sure this is the place.” Please use this sentence (or this thought) somewhere in your flash.

Covered Bridge

Medal Box

“Do you think they are still here?”  Xavier spoke with a strident voice.

“I hope so!  It looks like some boards were replaced.”  Logan remarked.

“Let’s look and see,” Xavier chimed in.

“No, we have to wait until it’s dark and no one will be crossing the covered bridge.  We do not want to end up in jail again and be there for life!”

It was 3 a.m. when they returned.

“Do you remember which board we put them under?”  Xavier asked.

“I’m sure this is the place. It will be under this board.” Xavier said in a high-pitched voice.

“Look!” They squealed as they lifted a medal box.

“Now, we can really get rid of these guns,” Logan said with satisfaction.

They had driven a few miles down the road when two policemen pulled them over. The policemen detained them until another police officer came with a search warrant.

Xavier and Logan were officially charged with the murder of two teenage boys that happened five years earlier.

Special cameras  installed around the covered bridge made it possible to see Xavier and Logan retrieve the guns.

UNDERSTANDING

The beautiful view from the plane nearly took my breath away.

Everyone wore a special headset and we arrived at our destination very quickly.

The place was amazing!  I felt relaxed and was given my own special tour.

My whole life passed in front of me.  It was fascinating! There were many things I wanted to change.

Everyone learned from their mistakes in life and how to prevent from making them in the future.

We returned home and began living our life with a better understanding of how to make better choices and how to treat one another.

TENSION

SIX SENTENCE STORIES      Thursday, June 23, 2016   Cue…Order

TENSION

The room was so packed there were people standing in the back.

I tried to stay calm, but the tension was so built up inside of me, I thought I would burst.

After days and days of being hammered with questions, sleepless nights, and consuming very little food, my body felt like a zombie.

The noise in the room was unbearable and people kept staring at me and I wondered what was going through their mind.

I felt sick to my stomach and shook all over just thinking about how one’s life could dramatically  change with a mistaken identity.

Then, things started to unfold when the judge called the court to order and the verdict of innocence was given at which time I passed out.

SHE

Flash Fiction for Aspiring Writers

Week of 06-21 through 06-27-2016

This week’s photo prompt is provided by TJ Paris. Thank you TJ!

SHE

“Hamlet, here she comes!”  Macbeth warned.

“Oh great!  Just when I thought she was going home.”

“She just likes to torture us,” Carrie remarked.

“With the hundred’s of books in this gigantic library, you would think we could escape from her, especially since we are in the return to shelf area,” Macbeth complained.

“What happens when she is here?”  Heidi asked.

“We get tossed around, pages bent, markings put on us, and stacks of other books placed on top of us and sometimes she puts us on the wrong shelf,” Hamlet said in disgust.

“She has no respect for books!”  Carrie screamed.

“I came close to being checked out by her last week,” Othello said nervously.

Neither Are Looking

“Hello!  My name is Evan.”

“I’m Bernice, it’s nice to meet you.  I’m new in town and decided to come to the party and meet some of my co-workers.”

“Where did you live before moving here?”

“In the Chicago area.”

“What brought you to this town?”

“I moved to live in a safer place.”

“Oh!  So, it was rough where you came from!”

“Yes, you could say that.”

“In what way?”

“In my old neighborhood the most common form of transportation was a stretcher.  If you weren’t home by midnight, you were declared dead.  There were so many gossips, too.  You know, gossips are considered the spies of life!  I just needed to move and experience living somewhere else.”

“Do you live by yourself or do you have a boyfriend?”

“No boyfriend now and not looking for one either.”

“What happened, did you have a bad experience with the last one?”

“Well, we were doing fine for a while, but things changed.  He said he wanted his paycheck to go further.  He took it to Paris!  When he came back, he said he needed more space.  So, I locked him outside!”

“What about you?  Do have a girlfriend?”

“No, not now.  I’m not looking for one either.”

“Really!  Did you have a bad experience too?”

“No, I’ve been traveling a lot for my work, going from one city to the next for a while and, oh, excuse me I see my co-worker motioning to me.   We have some business to discuss, but maybe we can talk a little later.”

“Sure, that will be fine.”

“Alright, I’ll catch up with you later.”

“Mr. Mercer, I see you made it after all.”

“My plans got changed once again, but we will have a little while to finish our discussion.  I’m sorry to pull you away from your friend.”

“That’s alright, we just met a few minutes ago and I plan to talk with her later.  I enjoyed speaking with her.

The Deck

Six Sentence Stories                  Cue…deck       June 16, 2016

The Deck

Everyone sat on the deck listening to the music and dancing.

Emily went in the house to get more drinks and she heard a loud sound like the house was falling apart!

She rushed to the kitchen window and saw the last part of the deck fall to the ground.

Parts of the deck was on fire, people were trying to free themselves of the broken boards and helping others do the same.

Emily quickly called 911 and the ambulances and fire trucks arrived within minutes.

The fire was quickly put out and the injured transported to the hospital and fortunately, no one had a life threatening injury.

Black Box

“Why does the piano have half of a man sticking out from it?”   Ralph inquired.

“I have no idea. It’s an old prop used many years ago.”  Harry said.

“Look at this!”  Ralph remarked.

“What?”

“Here’s a black box inside the piano,” Ralph said as he picked it up and opened it.

“So, what’s inside the box?”  Harry questioned.

“Holy cow!”  Ralph yelled.  “It’s a box full of fingers!”

“Well, now we know why there’s half a body sticking out from the piano!  The poor guy was looking for his fingers,”  Harry laughed.

THE MOUNTAIN CLIMB

Challenge…

Don’t go for a whole story. Write just a scene—100 to 200 words—that is full of tension, anxiety, trepidation, and the unknown.

The Mountain Climb

John and Emma were climbing the grueling mountain for a couple of hours.

After resting for a while, they continued to climb and it began to rain.  Just as they turned a corner, a large rock fell from above them knocking Emma over the side of the mountain. Her body turned over and over as she went down the mountain side and John stood there helplessly watching her as he yelled her name in agony!

Emma landed on a flat area of the mountain side and John could see that her leg seemed twisted.  She lay perfectly still as he called her name over and over.

He tried in vain to use his cell phone to call for help, but there was no reception in that area.

Pulling off his backpack he quickly opened it to get the rope he had brought for emergencies.

While scanning the area for a tree or rock he could tie the rope around he noticed a mountain lion just two ledges above Emma.
